Why Air Abrasion Changes the Math
Air abrasion and prophy jet procedures push abrasive powder into the vacuum line, and that material accumulates in the collector far faster than ordinary suction waste. A practice with a plastic separator that adds these procedures will need to replace cartridges even faster. But not with the 400 Plus! Do I need the 400 Plus if I run air abrasion?
If your 1-5 chair practice uses air abrasion or prophy jet compound regularly, yes — the added capacity keeps you on the one-change-a-year schedule. A standard 400 will still work, but abrasive material will fill it faster. We'll confirm the right fit when you request a quote.
How much bigger is the 400 Plus than the 400?
Same width and height — the added buffer makes it deeper (17" vs. 8") to increase total capacity. It mounts in the same wall space, so the larger capacity doesn't cost you room in a tight utility closet.
Does the extra capacity change the collector schedule?
No — it protects it. The point of the added buffer is to keep air-abrasion practices on the same once-a-year change as everyone else. Correctly sized, it's still one change a year, guaranteed, with Rebec’s free-replacement promise if it fills faster.
